Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 HS 12.1 MP Digital Camera (Black)

Price : $179.00

The Canon Powershot ELPH 300 HS (IXUS 220 HS) is one of several new compact digital cameras recently released by Canon with a new naming convention - "Powershot ELPH xxx HS" rather than "Powershot SDxxx IS." The ELPH 300 HS is the newest model of the line of compact cameras whose previous version was the SD1400 IS, a fine camera that I reviewed for this website (the earlier versions of the camera, the SD940 IS and SD780 IS, were also reviewed by this website). However, the ELPH 300 HS improves upon the SD1400 IS in several significant ways.

Most importantly, it has a different sensor, a 12.1 megapixel CMOS sensor compared to the 14.1 megapixel CCD sensor of the earlier version. The new sensor is designed to give the camera enhanced low light image quality and faster speed. The new camera also has a lens with a wider angle of view, 24mm compared to 28mm, and more optical zoom, 5x compared to 4x. The ELPH 300 HS has a higher quality video mode, 1920 x 1080 resolution (full HD) at 24 frames per second, compared to 1280 x 720 (30 fps).

The PowerShot 300 HS delivers good images and reliable performance in a variety of shooting conditions.

Pros :
   + Excellent ergonomics
   + Instant startup
   + High quality video

Cons
:

   - Poorly attached port cover
   - Flash inconveniently located
   - Occasional overexposur

Toshiba NB505-N508BL 10.1-Inch Netbook (Blue)

Price: $469.99

If  you’re in the market for a value for money, well-featured netbook then you should definitely check out the Toshiba NB505-N508BL 10.1-Inch Netbook (Blue).  At 1.4 inches thick and weighing in at less than 3 pounds, there’s no reason at all why this little baby can’t occupy a permanent position in your bag, briefcase or rucksack.  After all, we all want to have our computing needs with us 24/7, and having the Toshiba NB505-N508BL 10.1-Inch Netbook (Blue) close at hand means you never need to be out of contact or out of touch.

What stands out from this machine is its full size keyboard, unlike the other laptops, which you must use pgup and pgdown key while pressing the fn key if you scroll in a long website page, with the Toshiba NB505-N508BL 10.1-Inch Netbook (Blue) you can actually forget that pain because of the comfortable full size “PC” keyboad.

The touchpad is also very much improved in this model, it is very much better and wider for your productivity.
The 2.9 pounds weight is great, I can actually place this laptop in a bookbag, and it is very efficient as I am a student.

If you are on the move frequently, I definitely recommend this machine, because it is very small for a netbook and very simple to carry or pack.

Pros

  • Truly light and portable
  • Has a full-sized keyboard – which is rare on a netbook of this size
  • Excellent battery life
  • Easy to set up
  • Runs extremely cool
  • Fast for the size and spec
  • Excellent value for money

Cons

  • No disc drive – (of course, it's a netbook.)
  • Windows 7 Starter is fairly basic – but this is intentional and specifically designed for netbooks so as not to bog them down with unnecessary programs
  • The mono speaker isn’t great – but has a separate jack to plug into external speakers

Apple iPod touch 8GB (4th Generation) - Black - Current Version

Pros: A major update to Apple's iPod the most versatile, adding a twin camera, high resolution 960x640 screen, a microphone, a bigger battery and durable, and 3-axis gyroscope, among other features. Now capable of using FaceTime video calling, high-definition video playback and storage, and 720p movie recording with the camera behind. The new body design is slimmer and lighter than before while still solid in the hand. Remains capable of great audio performance, including better quality speakers.

Cons: New screen and the camera seemed to fall short of the iPhone 4 performance levels. Weak performance of the camera is still a particular problem for all models; the lowest-end model has jumped $ 30 price while still trapped in the proper 8GB/6.5GB storage capacity. The new front design is not as comfortable around the edges as in the previous model; glass continues to attract the stain at a rapid pace. Earphones no longer includes an integrated microphone and remote control features.
